Direct Counsel is representing a respected law firm in their search for a Chief Operations Manager to join their leadership team.

Job Overview

This role is ideal for a proven executive who enjoys solving complex operational challenges, building high-performing teams, implementing scalable systems, and translating strategic vision into measurable results. Working directly with the firm's Partners, the COO will have broad influence across the organization and play a key role in its continued success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the firm's leadership to strengthen organizational performance, enhance the client experience, improve operational efficiency, and position the firm for continued growth.
  • Develop, challenge, and hold accountable a high-performing leadership team while driving collaboration across departments. Lead continuous improvement initiatives that drive case progression efficiency and long-term profitability.
  • Establish executive dashboards, KPIs, and reporting to support informed business decisions.
  • Provide executive leadership for the firm's administrative and operational functions, working collaboratively with Finance, Human Resources, Technology, Recruiting, and other leaders to ensure organizational alignment across the firm.
  • Ensure operational compliance with applicable legal, employment, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success leading complex organizations through growth, operational change, and continuous improvement.
  • 10+ years of operational leadership experience, with significant experience leading large teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, JD or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in a professional services organization or law firm is required.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
