Manufacturing Team Lead
Location: Ruther Glen, VA Schedule: I have a 1st Shift and 2nd Shifty available
- 1st Shift Monday - Friday 7am - 3pm
- 2nd Shift Monday–Thursday, 3:00 PM–1:00 AM (4x10s) + potential overtime
Pay: $29/hour Type: Direct Hire
Role Summary
Hands-on production lead role supporting daily manufacturing/assembly operations. You’ll coordinate workload and priorities, help remove roadblocks on the floor, ensure quality and safety expectations are met, and coach/mentor assemblers—while still working alongside the team.
What You’ll Do
- Lead day-to-day execution for a team of assemblers (tasking, pacing, priorities, workflow)
- Provide hands-on support and technical guidance during mechanical, electrical, and system assembly
- Monitor quality, confirm work meets standards, and help address defects/rework needs
- Troubleshoot routine to moderately complex assembly issues and escalate when needed
- Communicate schedule updates, material needs, and risks to production leadership
- Train, coach, and mentor newer team members on process, tools, safety, and expectations
- Enforce safe work practices/PPE and stop work when unsafe conditions exist
- Maintain organization/5S mindset: documentation, materials readiness, tools/equipment availability
What We’re Looking For (Required)
- High school diploma plus 4+ years of assembly/manufacturing experience (or closely related)
- Prior manufacturing leadership experience (leading a small team, directing work, on-the-job coaching)
- Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation
- Strong communication skills (clear direction, coordination, escalation when appropriate)
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
- Regularly lift/carry/move up to 50 lbs
- Frequent standing/walking; climbing, squatting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, reaching overhead
- Ability to relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance
- Ability to work at heights up to 60 feet (ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks)
- Good vision (corrected OK), color vision, and ability to communicate in English
- Ability to recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong (quality/safety awareness)
