PRODUCTION YARD LEAD
Monday - Friday
7:00 am - 5:30 pm
$23.00 per hour

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate daily yard operations to support production schedules and customer deliveries.
  • Operate plate rolling equipment according to production specifications.
  • Prepare tanks for shipment by rigging, securing, and verifying transport readiness.
  • Coordinate the loading and unloading of inbound and outbound trucks.
  • Lead and direct the daily activities of Material Handlers and Paint Department personnel.
  • Assign work and monitor productivity to ensure tasks are completed safely and on schedule.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient yard with properly staged materials and finished products.
  • Coordinate the movement of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products throughout the facility.
  • Verify required materials are available before production begins.
  • Perform final inspections of completed tanks prior to shipment.
  • Communicate production progress, material shortages, equipment issues, and schedule delays to management.
  • Ensure forklifts, cranes, telehandlers, rigging equipment, and lifting devices are inspected and operated safely.
  • Enforce company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Train and mentor employees on safe work practices, material handling, and yard procedures.
  • Assist other departments as needed to support production objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three or more years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, steel production, or industrial operations.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes required.
  • Experience with rigging, material handling, and loading oversized equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read production schedules and shop drawings.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, with heavier lifting performed using mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work outdoors for extended periods.
  • Ability to work safely around heavy equipment, cranes, forklifts, welding operations, and moving machinery.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and wear required PPE.
