Clinical Support Specialist / Medical Assistant
Job Description
About Us
At Around The Block Health Care, we're not your average clinic. We provide primary care, addiction medicine, psychiatry, ketamine therapy, and counseling in a warm, inclusive, and supportive environment. Our patients come from all walks of life and may be navigating complex medical, mental health, substance use, or social challenges. We believe everyone deserves compassionate, dignified care. If that mission resonates with you, we'd love to meet you.
The Role
We're looking for a compassionate, dependable Clinical Support Specialist to support our providers and deliver exceptional patient care across a variety of clinical services. You'll play a key role in creating a welcoming patient experience while assisting with direct patient care, procedures, and daily clinic operations. If you enjoy helping people, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want to make a meaningful difference, you'll fit right in at Around The Block Health Care.
What Youll Do
- Welcome patients and assist with rooming, vital signs, and visit preparation.
- Administer vaccines, injections, and other treatments within your scope of practice.
- Assist providers with IM/IV ketamine appointments and in-office procedures, including joint injections, trigger point injections, wound care, and other clinical services.
- Coordinate laboratory and imaging orders as directed by providers.
- Assist with medication prior authorizations and clinical documentation.
- Support chart preparation, scheduling, and daily clinic workflow.
- Maintain accurate patient records while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
- Collaborate with providers and teammates to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Assist with additional clinical and administrative duties as needed.
What Were Looking For
- At least one year of experience in a medical, behavioral health, or psychiatric setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Medical Assistant (MA, RMA, CMA, CCMA, CMAA) certification or CNA license preferred.
- Experience with ketamine therapy, TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation), or other specialty procedures is a plus, but not required.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Professional, compassionate communication with patients and team members.
- Comfortable learning new technology; experience with Practice Fusion, UpDox, Spruce, or other electronic health record systems is a plus.
- A collaborative team player committed to providing respectful, nonjudgmental care to every patient.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This position is performed in a clinical healthcare environment and requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Clinical Support Specialists regularly provide hands-on patient care, including administering injections, assisting with procedures, obtaining vital signs, collecting specimens, performing wound care, and handling medical equipment. The role may involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, sharps (including needles), and other potentially infectious materials. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided, and employees are expected to follow OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standards, infection control practices, and all clinic safety policies.
Because our patients may be experiencing medical, mental health, substance use, or emotional challenges, success in this role requires professionalism, empathy, adaptability, and the ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule
Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM with an hour lunch (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM)
Perks & Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Group life and supplemental insurance
- Paid vacation, sick leave, mental health days, and holidays (for full-time team members)
- Continuing education and one-on-one mentorship
- Supportive, collaborative team culture with opportunities for growth
Why Youll Love Working Here
We're a people-first workplace where inclusivity, support, and growth are integral to our culture, both for our patients and each other. If you're looking for a team that values compassion, collaboration, and a good sense of humor, you'll fit right in at Around The Block Health Care.
