Job Description

Job Description
Step into a day shaping how precision gears are made

Join a long-standing precision gear manufacturer where engineering lives on the shop floor. Your mornings might begin with a quick walk through CNC cells, checking first-article results and talking with machinists about a grinding cycle. By mid-morning, you’re refining a routing and BOM in the ERP/MRP system for a new gear family, building clear work instructions, and validating a fixture concept. After lunch, you’re reviewing prints and GD&T with quality, running a PFMEA on a launch part, and driving a corrective action to cut cycle time while holding tighter tolerances. You close the day with an ECN update and a plan for tomorrow’s kaizen.

What you’ll handle
  • Engineer and optimize manufacturing methods for precision-machined gears and related mechanical components.
  • Own process documentation: routings, work instructions, BOMs, and all supporting records within ERP/MRP.
  • Guide new product introductions from engineering release through stable production launch.
  • Design and iterate tooling, fixtures, and workholding to enable robust, repeatable machining.
  • Analyze CNC milling, turning, grinding, and gear cutting processes to reduce cycle time and cost while lifting quality and throughput.
  • Partner with CNC programmers, machinists, quality, production, and fellow engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues at the source.
  • Interpret drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and customer specifications to translate requirements into manufacturable processes.
  • Lead root-cause investigations and implement durable corrective and preventive actions.
  • Advance continuous improvement across safety, quality, delivery, and productivity metrics.
  • Manage ECNs, process changes, and documentation control inside the ERP/MRP environment.
  • Participate in PFMEA, process validation, and manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Provide on-the-spot technical support to production for complex machining challenges.
Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 2+ years in manufacturing/process engineering within a CNC machining environment.
  • Working knowledge of CNC milling, turning, grinding, and/or gear cutting, with strong GD&T interpretation skills.
  • Proven ability to develop routings, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with Lean/continuous improvement principles.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and change control.
  • Excellent troubleshooting ability and cross-functional communication.
Preferred background
  • Precision machining or gear manufacturing experience.
  • Exposure to aerospace, defense, industrial equipment, or heavy manufacturing.
  • Fixture/tooling design proficiency.
  • Process validation and new product introduction experience.
  • Participation in kaizen and Lean initiatives.
What you’ll receive
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid vacation and holidays.
  • Long-term growth with a financially stable manufacturer.
  • A collaborative engineering culture with high visibility and measurable impact.
  • The chance to work on complex, precision-built products that support critical industries.
