The AV Technician works closely with event coordinators, entertainment, food and beverage staff, and maintenance personnel to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Sets up and operates microphones, speakers, projectors, screens, lighting systems, and video conferencing equipment for meetings, conferences, weddings, and special events, including testing all equipment prior to events, adjusting audio levels, calibrating video displays, and ensuring optimal functionality throughout each event.

Event Support Services. Provides on-site technical support during events, conferences, and meetings, remaining available to address technical issues that may arise and coordinating with event planners and catering staff to integrate AV requirements seamlessly with venue setup and service delivery.

Equipment Maintenance and Repair. Performs routine maintenance on all audio-visual equipment, including cleaning, calibration, and preventive care; troubleshoots equipment malfunctions, performs basic repairs, and coordinates with vendors for warranty service or specialized repairs when necessary.

Inventory and Asset Management. Maintains accurate inventory records of all AV equipment, cables, accessories, and consumable supplies, tracking equipment location, condition, and maintenance schedules, and recommending equipment upgrades or replacements to management.

Guest and Client Interaction. Provides professional, courteous service to guests, meeting planners, and event organizers, explaining equipment capabilities, assisting with technical requirements, training users on basic operation, and providing technical consultation for event planning.

Safety and Compliance. Ensures all installations and setups comply with safety regulations and building codes, including proper cable management, electrical safety procedures, and adherence to occupancy and fire safety requirements in all venue spaces.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education and Experience. High school diploma or equivalent required. Formal training in audio-visual technology, electronics, or a related technical field is preferred. Previous experience in AV setup and operation in hospitality, conference, or entertainment venues is highly desirable.

Technical Skills. Proficiency with audio mixing boards, wireless microphone systems, video projectors, LED displays, and conference room AV systems. Knowledge of audio-visual software, basic networking concepts, and familiarity with various manufacturer platforms is essential.

Communication and Customer Service. Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users. A professional appearance and demeanor when interacting with guests and event organizers is required.

Problem-Solving. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems quickly and efficiently, particularly during live events where immediate resolution is critical.

Working Conditions

The AV Technician works in a variety of indoor environments — conference rooms, banquet halls, and meeting spaces — as well as outdoor venues. The schedule includes evenings, weekends, and holidays to support the resort’s event calendar, and may involve irregular hours based on event schedules and emergency service calls. The work environment includes exposure to electrical equipment and varying noise levels, and requires working efficiently under time pressure during event setup and operation. Travel between resort venues and occasional work in outdoor conditions may be required.
