This full-time opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with a proven background supporting insurance defense or litigation-focused law firms. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day financial operations, legal billing, trust accounting, financial reporting, and strategic financial support while partnering closely with firm leadership.This position requires an accounting professional who combines exceptional analytical abilities with a thorough understanding of legal accounting practices, financial controls, escrow management, and operational excellence. Candidates must demonstrate leadership, accuracy, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a deadline-driven legal environment.Key Responsibilities
- Manage the firm's day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, general ledger reports, attorney productivity reports, and operational financial summaries.
- Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
- Reconcile operating accounts, trust accounts, and escrow accounts.
- Oversee legal billing operations while supporting billing accuracy and workflow improvements.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor payments, and client collections.
- Partner with attorneys and firm leadership regarding billing practices, financial reporting, and operational planning.
- Support payroll coordination, bonus reporting, budgeting, and cash flow analysis.
- Maintain financial records in accordance with GAAP and internal accounting controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting efficiency, and operational performance.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum five years of accounting experience within an insurance defense law firm is required.
- Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks.
- Working knowledge of Clio Manage.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience managing legal billing, escrow accounting, trust accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Strong financial reporting and analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency, including Excel.
- Must currently reside within the United States.
- U.S. citizens only.
- Experience supervising accounting or billing personnel.
- Strong background in financial planning, budgeting, and operational analysis.
- Experience supporting law firm leadership with strategic financial reporting.
- Knowledge of legal timekeeping, attorney billing, and client trust accounting.
- Payroll administration experience.
- CPA designation or CPA candidacy is preferred but not required.
- Stable employment history demonstrating continued professional growth and increasing financial responsibility.
- Compensation: $115,000–$165,000 USD annually, based on experience, plus bonus eligibility.
