POSITION OVERVIEW The Quality Control Inspector performs dimensional and visual inspections throughout the production cycle to ensure Master Machine’s products meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. This role uses precision measuring equipment and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to verify conformance on nuclear, DoE, DoD, and AS9100/ISO9001 projects. 1. Dimensional Inspection & Measurement Perform precise dimensional inspections at every stage of production to verify that Master Machine’s products meet drawing specifications, GD&T requirements, and customer quality standards. First Article, In-Process & Final Inspection
- Perform dimensional inspections (first article, in-process, and final) using conventional precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, and digital height gages
- Interpret engineering drawings and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to inspection activities
- Document all inspection results accurately and maintain traceability throughout the production cycle
- Program and operate Zeiss CMM (Calypso software), Keyence Optical CMM, and/or Faro arm for complex dimensional verification
- Select appropriate measurement methods and equipment based on part geometry and tolerance requirements
- Maintain proficiency with evolving measurement technology and software updates
- Perform receipt inspection of materials, parts, and consumables against purchase order specifications
- Maintain QA-controlled inventory and ensure incoming materials are properly identified and stored
- Verify material certifications and test reports accompany incoming shipments
- Perform assigned QC witness and hold points as identified in work travelers
- Verify that all inspection activities are performed according to customer requirements, procedures, and contract agreements
- May require traveling to customer or supplier facilities for off-site inspection activities
- Ensure quality requirements are maintained to meet the Master Machine QA program and customer requirements
- Follow all applicable procedures, work instructions, and inspection plans during execution
- Support the quality team in maintaining controlled documents and current revisions
- Interface with customers and production personnel on inspection results and quality-related matters
- Communicate quality and technical requirements clearly and professionally
- Support temporary assignments and additional duties as needed to meet business requirements
- Own your inspection results—good or bad
- Report discrepancies immediately without fear of blame
- Focus on fixing the process, not assigning fault
- Accept feedback and use it to sharpen your skills
- Thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in quality control inspection activities utilizing Faro Arm CMM and/or Keyence Optical CMM
- Knowledge and experience with NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, ANSI N45.2, and ASME BPVC Section III and VIII quality requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate quality and technical requirements
- Flexible hours to meet emergent customer needs
- Completed Zeiss Metrology, Keyence Optical CMM, and/or Faro Arm training classes
- Minimum 2 years of quality control inspection experience in a mechanical or electrical discipline
- Minimum 2 years of practical experience working with nuclear QA codes and standards
- Machinist or fabricator experience
- Nuclear commercial grade dedication experience
- Experience in aerospace (AS9100) QMS quality department
