Referral Specialist

Position Summary
The Referral Specialist coordinates timely and accurate specialty referrals to support continuity of care. This role ensures referrals, authorizations, and follow-ups are completed efficiently while providing a positive, patient-centered experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Process referral orders in the EHR and coordinate specialty care services
• Obtain required authorizations, documentation, and pre-certifications
• Track referral status through completion and maintain accurate records
• Assist patients with scheduling and navigating referral services
• Communicate clearly with patients, providers, and external partners
• Support continuity of care and identify barriers to access
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, privacy standards, and organizational policies

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 1+ year of healthcare, referral, or administrative experience preferred
• Strong computer skills, including EHR systems
• Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills
• Knowledge of insurance authorizations or referral processes is a plus

Work Environment

• Fast-paced healthcare setting with frequent patient and provider interaction
• Regular computer, phone, and administrative work
