Join Us in Cheswick as an Inspector C
Step onto the floor of our Pittsburgh (Cheswick) site and start your shift as an Inspector C ensuring critical components meet exacting dimensional and quality standards. You’ll move between benches and gauges, blueprints and records—translating specifications into confident approvals that keep production flowing safely and on time.
This is a union role assigned to one of three shifts. Training is conducted on first/daylight shift. Back-shift premium is available.
What a Day Looks Like- Open the day’s work instructions and drawings; clarify priorities with your supervisor and plan your inspections accordingly.
- Perform routine dimensional checks on a variety of parts and assemblies using established techniques, verifying conformance to drawings, specs, and procedures.
- Evaluate base materials and welds—type, hardness, surface finish, visual attributes—and conduct penetrant testing per applicable documents.
- Inspect, verify, and release outbound shipments once parts and documentation meet requirements.
- Review vendor reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before acceptance.
- Initiate inspection reports, capture measurements, maintain quality files, and audit records per defined procedures.
- Confirm that hardware and its quality documentation are inspected, cleaned, packed, and packaged to spec prior to shipment.
- Document and report any nonconformances you detect, initiating required records.
- Keep your station clean, organized, and inspection-ready.
- U.S. citizenship due to DoD requirements.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain DoD security clearances and approvals.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a four-year machine shop or inspection apprenticeship (or equivalent experience).
- Fluency in reading blueprints for machined parts and selecting the right dimensional inspection methods.
