Responsibilities

  • Manage construction project accounting, including AR/AP, job costing, and subcontractor payments.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies on all job sites.

  • Track and reconcile job budgets, change orders, and variance explanations.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly project financial reports for internal stakeholders.

  • Assist in month-end close and provide insights to improve profitability and efficiency.

  • Support internal controls and audit readiness across construction projects.

  • Assist with preparing for financial audits and supporting documentation requests.

  • Coordinate with project managers to forecast cash flow and resource needs.

  • Maintain accurate subcontractor and vendor records, lien waivers, and certifications.

  • Participate in process improvements and system enhancements (ERP, BI tools).

  • Maintain on-site presence for timely financial data capture and issue resolution.

  • Provide training and mentorship to junior staff on accounting procedures and best practices.


Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field

  • 5 years construction accounting or job costing experience

  • Strong GAAP knowledge and adherence to company policies

  • Ability to prepare monthly project financial reports for stakeholders

  • Strong attention to detail for budgets, change orders, and variance analysis

  • Perform job-cost accounting, variance analysis, and project profitability tracking.

  • Support revenue recognition processes in accordance with GAAP and ASC 606, including percentage-of-completion accounting.

  • Collaborate with project managers and operations teams on cost forecasting and change-order accounting.

  • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP), billing, and collections to support healthy cash flow.

  • Proficient in ERP systems with job costing and AP/AR modules

  • Experience with subcontractor payments, lien waivers, and certifications

  • Analytical mindset with ability to provide profitability and efficiency insights

  • Experience with month-end close and audit readiness processes

  • Cash flow forecasting collaboration with project managers

  • On-site presence to capture financial data and resolve issues promptly

  • Strong communication and mentoring skills for junior staff

  • Ability to work in a high-visibility, target-driven environment
