Painter/Blaster
Job Description
The Painter/Blaster is responsible for surface preparation and application of protective coatings on structures, equipment, and vessels. This role ensures surfaces are properly cleaned, blasted, and coated to meet project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform abrasive blasting (sandblasting, grit blasting, shot blasting) to prepare surfaces
Clean and prepare surfaces by removing rust, old paint, grease, and contaminants
Apply coatings using brush, roller, or spray equipment according to specifications
Mix and apply paints, primers, and protective coatings correctly
Inspect surfaces before and after blasting and painting
Maintain blasting and painting equipment in safe working condition
Follow coating system requirements, thickness (DFT), and curing times
Comply with all safety, environmental, and PPE requirements
Read and interpret work instructions, drawings, and coating specifications
Work at heights, in confined spaces, or outdoors as required
Coordinate with supervisors, inspectors, and quality control personnel
Proven experience as a Painter/Blaster or similar role
Knowledge of surface preparation standards
Experience with airless spray equipment and blasting machines
Ability to work in harsh environments and physically demanding conditions
Familiarity with safety procedures, and hazardous materials
Good attention to detail and workmanship
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Exposure to dust, noise, and chemicals
May require working in confined spaces or at heights
Outdoor and industrial site environments
Shift work and overtime may be required
Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials
Stand, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods
Wear respirators and full PPE for long duration
