Job Title: Billing Specialist (AR Follow-Up)

Assignment Type: Contract (3–6 months)
Pay: $22 – $25 / hour
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Job Description:
The Billing Specialist will focus on accounts receivable follow-up within a skilled nursing environment, working to resolve outstanding claims and reduce aging balances. This role is ideal for someone who can step in quickly, take ownership of assigned accounts, and help drive backlog reduction through consistent follow-up and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work assigned AR queues, prioritizing older claims and high-dollar accounts
- Research unpaid or underpaid claims to determine root issues and next steps
- Communicate with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers via phone and online portals
- Correct, resubmit, and track denied or rejected claims through resolution
- Prepare and submit appeals with appropriate documentation when needed
- Manage accounts aging 60 – 90+ days and escalate complex issues as necessary
- Utilize billing systems, clearinghouses, and payer portals to update claim status
- Identify trends in denials or payment delays and share insights with leadership
- Collaborate with internal teams to reduce delays and improve billing workflows
Qualifications:
- 3 – 5 years of SNF billing or collections experience with strong AR follow-up skills required.
- Experience resolving aged accounts and working AR backlog projects required.
- Proficiency with PointClickCare (PCC) required; MyUnity experience a plus
- Familiarity with Waystar and Inovalon preferred
- Strong knowledge of Medicare billing, including use of DDE portals
- Experience working with SNF - related payers (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial)
- Understanding of industry terminology such as NOA, PDPM, and MACs
- Intermediate Excel and general computer proficiency
- Proven ability to produce measurable results in reducing AR aging
