Production Butcher / Meat Cutter
Job Description
A locally owned, premium meat producer in Burlington, WA is looking for production butchers and meat cutters to support daily production. This is a hands-on role for dependable candidates who take pride in quality work, safe knife handling, and showing up on time. The position is a strong fit for someone with meat cutting, grocery meat department, food production, culinary prep, or related knife experience who wants to build a long-term career in the trade.
Pay will depend on demonstrated skill level. Candidates with limited cutting experience may be considered for a trainee or production-support path, while experienced cutters may qualify for the higher end of the range.
Role Type: Production butcher / meat cutter with room to grow into higher-level cutting work
Schedule: Full-time schedule; exact days and hours to be confirmed during the hiring process
Work Environment: Cold production setting with knives, equipment, sanitation standards, and physical work
What You’ll Do
· Cut, trim, portion, and prepare meat products according to production needs and quality standards.
· Use knives, saws, grinders, and other equipment safely and correctly, depending on assigned work.
· Follow food safety, sanitation, and product-handling procedures throughout the shift.
· Maintain a steady pace while keeping cuts accurate and consistent.
· Inspect product for quality and communicate issues or concerns to the appropriate lead or manager.
· Keep the work area clean, organized, and stocked for production.
· Work as part of a small team and follow direction from production leads and management.
What We’re Looking For
· Previous meat cutting, butcher, meat department, culinary prep, or production knife experience is preferred.
· Strong attendance and on-time performance.
· Reliable transportation to and from the Burlington area.
· Comfort working in a cold production environment and standing for a full shift.
· Ability to use knives safely and follow strict safety and sanitation procedures.
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed and perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
· A team-minded, quality-focused attitude and a willingness to keep learning.
Helpful Experience
· Retail meat cutting, butcher shop, processing, smokehouse, grinding, sausage
· Experience working around food safety standards, production schedules, or quality-control expectations.
· Interest in growing toward a higher-level or journeyman meat cutter skill set over time.
