We are looking for an Assistant Program Counselor who can demonstrate leadership, decisiveness, and a spirit of collaboration. At Merced Behavioral Center, you will be working with an at-risk population of the mentally disabled and assist them in their daily needs. Working with a team of trained individuals running a Special Treatment Program, you will be asked to monitor and document resident’s progress in their behavioral health treatment and assist in interventions and preventative measures to ensure their adherence to their program – giving them the best opportunity for rehabilitation. You will also be promoting their independence in their care as well as assisting when needed, be able and willing to discuss treatment issues on an on-going basis, lead in supporting the need for a safe and positive work environment, and document in compliance with state guidelines. Must be able to read, speak, and document in the English language and at a level required to do their tasks
Must be able to think independently when situations or crises arise
Must possess a spirit of friendliness and enthusiasm in this field towards both staff and residents, even difficult ones
Must be able to be patient with residents and have a spirit of willingness to help
Must be willing to learn everyday you work
Compile reports on resident behavior/progress
Facilitate treatment groups
Possess good time management skills
Understand the importance of professional boundaries
Qualifications:
Degree in a related field is not required but preferred.
No experience is required but welcomed as well.

Multiple shifts available (Day, Evening, NOC)
