Job Description

The Protg Agency Producer position is designed for a motivated, entrepreneurial professional interested in building a long-term career in insurance sales, business development, and potential agency ownership.


The Protg Agency Producer will work directly for an established Farmers agency owner while gaining practical experience in Personal Lines, Life Insurance, and Business Insurance. The employee will receive coaching, sales development, operational experience, and access to applicable Farmers training resources.


This position requires a strong commitment to licensing, customer acquisition, account development, production growth, professional development, and the successful completion of applicable Protg Program milestones.


The Protg Program is intended to help participants develop the skills and business knowledge necessary to pursue future Farmers agency ownership. Participation in the program does not guarantee program graduation, agency ownership, appointment as a Farmers agency owner, or payment of any program bonus.


Employment detailsincluding compensation, schedule, responsibilities, and performance expectationsare established between the Protg Agency Producer and the Farmers agency owner who employs them.

Responsibilities

Generate new business opportunities through outbound calls, referrals, networking, community engagement, lead follow-up, and other approved prospecting activities.

Contact prospective customers promptly and consistently.

Conduct comprehensive insurance needs assessments.

Prepare and present insurance proposals based on the customers needs.

Explain policy options, limits, deductibles, endorsements, exclusions, and available discounts.

Sell and cross-sell eligible Farmers Insurance products.

Develop rounded customer households and commercial accounts by identifying multiple insurance needs.

Ask for referrals and establish ongoing customer relationships.

Maintain an active pipeline of prospects, follow-ups, appointments, quotes, and pending applications.

Meet assigned sales, activity, appointment, conversion, and production expectations.

Participate in agency sales campaigns, contests, meetings, and business-development initiatives.

Personal Lines Insurance


The employee will assist prospective and existing customers with eligible Personal Lines products, which may include:


Automobile insurance

Homeowners insurance

Renters insurance

Condominium insurance

Landlord or rental-property insurance

Personal umbrella insurance

Recreational and specialty insurance products

Other eligible personal insurance products offered through the agency


The employee is expected to identify opportunities to bundle and cross-sell products when appropriate for the customer.


Life Insurance


The employee will:


Introduce life insurance as part of the agencys comprehensive needs-assessment process.

Identify potential life insurance needs and protection gaps.

Schedule and conduct life insurance appointments when properly licensed.

Assist customers with eligible life insurance applications.

Complete required Life and Health licensing within the timeframe established by the mentor agency and applicable Protg Program requirements.

Meet assigned Life Insurance activity and production expectations.

Business Insurance


The employee will:


Identify commercial prospects within the agencys target market.

Conduct preliminary business insurance needs assessments.

Collect the information necessary to prepare commercial insurance proposals.

Assist with quoting eligible Business Insurance products.

Follow up with commercial prospects throughout the sales process.

Develop relationships with business owners, referral partners, and community organizations.

Meet assigned Business Insurance activity and production expectations.

Work with the mentor agency owner on complex commercial accounts when appropriate.


Business Insurance products may include:


Businessowners policies

General liability

Commercial automobile

Workers compensation

Commercial property

Professional or specialty coverage

Other eligible commercial insurance products

Customer Relationship Management


The Protg Agency Producer will:


Provide professional, responsive, and accurate service to prospective and existing customers.

Build relationships based on trust, transparency, and appropriate insurance recommendations.

Conduct account reviews and identify coverage gaps.

Assist with retention and account-rounding efforts.

Document customer conversations, recommendations, applications, and follow-up activities.

Maintain accurate customer and prospect information in the agencys approved systems.

Respond to customer questions within established agency service standards.

Refer service, claims, underwriting, or complex coverage matters to the appropriate agency or carrier resource.

Protect confidential customer, employee, and agency information.


Requirements

Licensing Requirements


Licensing is an essential requirement of the position and the Protg Program.


Unlicensed Candidates


Candidates who are not currently licensed may be provided enrollment instructions for the approved prelicensing course through XCEL Solutions.


Unlicensed candidates must:


Enroll in the assigned licensing course promptly.

Complete all required coursework.

Schedule and pass the applicable state examination.

Complete fingerprinting and licensing application requirements.

Meet the licensing deadline established by the mentor agency.

Keep the mentor agency informed regarding licensing progress.

Protg Appointment Requirements


A qualifying Property and Casualty license is required before appointment as a Protg Agency Producer.


Life and Health licenses are required to complete applicable production milestones and pursue full-time appointment as a Farmers agency owner.


The employee must maintain all required licenses in active and good-standing status throughout employment and program participation.


Failure to obtain or maintain the required licenses may affect compensation, job responsibilities, Protg Program eligibility, or continued employment.


Background Check


Satisfactory completion of the required background-check process is a condition of appointment to the Protg Agency Producer Program.

Mentor agency eligibility

Candidate eligibility under applicable Farmers program requirements
