Job Description
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Shop Hand to support the daily operations of our construction shop and equipment yard. This position is responsible for performing basic equipment and tool repairs, assisting mechanics, operating a forklift, organizing the shop and yard, and ensuring equipment is ready for field use. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate a forklift to move, load, unload, and organize construction materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on construction equipment, trailers, tools, and shop assets.
- Use basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Assist with preventive maintenance on company equipment.
- Inspect equipment for damage or maintenance needs and report findings to management.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and yard.
- Load and unload deliveries and verify materials received.
- Keep inventory of shop supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Assist mechanics and field personnel with repair and maintenance projects as needed.
- Ensure equipment is fueled, cleaned, and ready for deployment.
- Follow all OSHA and company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in a construction shop, equipment yard, warehouse, or similar environment preferred.
- Experience operating a forklift required.
- Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

- Must be able to work around construction equipment, machinery, and loud environments.
