American Workforce Group has partnered with a premier heavy timber, glulam, and structural wood fabrication manufacturer in Pierce County, WA to hire full-time Timber Production / Saw Operators. In this high-craft production role, you will operate planers, saws, and specialized wood-processing machinery to prepare prefabricated timber components, run forklifts for material handling, and assist with custom assembly labor. If you bring a strong work ethic, sharp tape measure skills, forklift capability, and a desire for long-term career growth, let's get you on the shop floor!
Description for Timber Production Operator:
- Safely operate planers, industrial saws, and wood-processing machinery to cut and shape heavy timber, glulam, and structural log components.
- Accurately read and interpret a tape measure, verify material lengths, and calculate dimensions to ensure clean, precise fabrication cuts.
- Operate forklifts to transport, stage, and unload raw timber beams and finished structural kits across the shop.
- Utilize hand and power tools cleanly to assist with timber prep, sanding, drilling, and general fabrication labor duties.
- Maintain high situational awareness, strictly follow shop safety rules, wear required PPE, and keep work bays clean and clear of scrap debris.
Details for Timber Production Operator:
- Pay Rate: $24.00 / hour starting base wage.
- Schedule: Monday – Friday (Enjoy a consistent weekday core routine with your weekends completely free!).
- Shift Options:
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Swing Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
- Location: Pierce County, WA facility.
- Position Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire path featuring long-term local career stability.
Requirements for Timber Production Operator:
- MUST BE PROFICIENT READING A TAPE MEASURE AND PERFORMING BASIC FRACTIONAL MATH.
- Verifiable experience safely operating forklifts within a warehouse, yard, or manufacturing setting.
- Prior experience operating saws, power tools, planers, or wood/metal processing machinery required.
- Physical capability to handle heavy industrial labor—must be comfortable standing, bending, stooping, and lifting 50–75 lbs consistently.
- Strong personal reliability, zero-shortcut safety mindset, and a desire to grow long-term with a stable manufacturing team.
- Exceptional history of daily attendance, prompt punctuality, and reliable personal transportation habits.
