Staffing Coordinator and Central Supplies
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for maintaining adequate nursing staff for the facility. The
person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and
responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established
company policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Assists in recruiting, selection, and training of potential employees and ensures all staffing
needs are met
2. Coordinates, monitors, and adjusts schedules for the nursing departments as required,
including daily, weekly and monthly, also covering vacations and holidays
3. Recommends to the Administrator the number and level of personnel to be employed
4. Assists in determining nursing staffing, evaluates employee performance to DON and
Administrator concerning wage and salary adjustments, hiring, terminations, and transfers
5. Checks applications and references of prospective employees and arrange for interviews
6. Attends departmental meetings, in-service educational meetings, and on-the-job training
7. Ensures that appropriate training records are maintained for nursing staff
8. Maintains job applications for personnel eligible to work in the facility (including job
applications, resumes, reference checks)
9. Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent personnel information in accordance with the
Privacy Act, as well as facility policies and procedures
10. Maintains nursing schedules as appropriate
11. Stays well-informed of staffing needs as census increases or decreases
12. Assist in hiring personnel in accordance with established hiring practices
13. Other related duties as assigned by Administrator/Director of Nursing
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS & ABILITIES:
1. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions in certain circumstances
2. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members,
visitors, governmental agencies and the general public
3. Must maintain confidentiality of all resident information, be knowledgeable and comply
with residents’ rights
4. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
5. Must be able to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
6. Must be knowledgeable of computers, data entry, output, etc.
7. Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and/or holidays
8. Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team
9. Must present a positive image of the facility

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Must have, as a minimum one year experience in long term care. Must be a high school graduate or
equivalent. Must meet health assessment requirements, including two stage Mantoux skin tests and
one-step annually thereafter
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to move intermittently during working hours. Must be capable of performing the essential
functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, Must be able to push, pull, move,
and/or lift a minimum of 20 pounds. Grasping, hearing (with or without aid). Must be able to reach,
stoop, kneel, bend, lift, and move intermittently throughout the work day throughout the facility.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Works in office areas and throughout the facility, communicates with medical staff, nursing personnel,
and other department supervisors.
1. Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, postdisaster, etc.)
2. Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the work day, as
well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
3. Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS
and Hepatitis B viruses
4. May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals
5. May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations

department operating standards, and federal, state, and local regulations.
