Special Education Teacher EI - Astoria

Job Summary:

Shema Kolainu-Hear Our Voices (SKHOV) is seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher EI to join our team in Astoria, Queens, NY. As a Special Education Teacher EI, you will work with children aged 0-3 in our Early Intervention Programs, focusing on developmental milestones such as communication, play, and daily routines. If you are passionate about supporting the unique needs of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related developmental disabilities, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) for children with ASD and related developmental disabilities

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive educational programs tailored to the needs of children aged 0-3

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including occupational and speech therapists, to ensure comprehensive support for each child

  • Assess and evaluate student progress, making data-driven decisions to inform instructional strategies

  • Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure seamless support across settings

  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in early intervention and special education

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Special Education or a related field

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with children with ASD and related developmental disabilities

  • New York State Teaching Certification in Special Education - Birth-Grade 2 or All Grades

  • $70 - $90 BI-WEEKLY salary

  • PER DIEM work schedule

  • Strong understanding of early childhood development and principles of early intervention

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
