Purchasing Director
Our client, a top manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced and strategic Purchasing Director to lead their transformative enterprise purchasing initiative. This fully remote opportunity requires a dynamic professional to drive best-in-class procurement practices, optimize vendor relationships, and ensure consistent, high-quality purchasing operations across multiple manufacturing locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and continuously improve the Enterprise Purchasing Initiative, creating standardized purchasing processes and optimizing vendor management across all company divisions.
- Direct the procurement of materials, components, and services, ensuring alignment across a multi-plant environment.
- Mentor and develop a team of purchasing professionals and manage subcontractor relationships.
- Oversee and maintain an enterprise vendor catalog, including rationalizing the vendor base and monitoring supplier performance to ensure contract and pricing compliance.
- Optimize procurement processes, including purchase order systems, recurring spend, and authority controls, all while enforcing compliance with approval hierarchies.
- Manage and enhance ERP systems for purchasing
- Review and approve purchase orders, negotiate supplier agreements, and support cost estimating with accurate pricing data.
- Oversee enterprise-wide inventory management practices, ensuring optimal inventory levels to support operational goals.
- Collaborate closely with Operations and Finance to ensure procurement aligns with production planning and financial reporting.
- Enforce organizational purchasing policies and compliance standards while maintaining confidentiality and promoting a culture of safety.
- Serve as the primary purchasing contact for internal stakeholders, suppliers, and external partners, representing the company with professionalism and integrity.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement or contract management, including 5+ years in a managerial role across multiple locations.
- Extensive expertise in supply chain management within a manufacturing or related environment.
- Strong track record in negotiating complex purchases, supplier agreements, and vendor consolidations.
- Proficient knowledge of ERP systems (Pace and/or Core highly desirable) and MRP systems.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities.
