We are looking for a Cheesemonger responsible for guiding guests through Chèvre's premium cheese and specialty market selection - advising on flavor, texture, origin, and pairings, and ensuring every product is stored, cut, and presented to the highest standard.Key ResponsibilitiesGreet and assist customers at the cheese counter and throughout the marketProvide expert guidance on cheese varieties, flavor profiles, textures, and originsOffer pairing recommendations (wine, charcuterie, honey, nuts, crackers, fruit) tailored to customer preferencesCut, wrap, weigh, and package cheese to order, following proper handling techniquesReceive, inspect, and rotate cheese deliveries; maintain correct storage temperature and humidityBuild and maintain an attractive, well-stocked cheese case and displayPrepare cheese and charcuterie boards to orderOperate POS register accurately, handling cash and card transactionsStay current on new arrivals, seasonal offerings, and cheese industry trendsSupport offsite events and catering orders as neededFollow food handling and safety procedures; maintain clean, sanitary workstationsQualificationsExperience in a market, deli/cheese department, or specialty food/retail setting requiredWorking knowledge of cheese types, production methods, and classic pairings (wine, charcuterie, accompaniments)Food Handler certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)Friendly, reliable, and detail-oriented, with genuine enthusiasm for high-end food productsBilingual (English/Spanish) a plusAbility to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
