Summary
As an Advanced Practice Provider with FirstClass Healthcare, you will play a vital role in delivering high‐quality, patient‐centered medical care within a correctional healthcare environment. Scope of Work: Essential Duties
- Provides care to the patients in the facility and recommends clinical quality improvement efforts.
- Conducts thorough medical assessments, including physical examinations, reviews medical histories, and evaluates symptoms to diagnose and treat various health conditions.
- Performs simple procedures such as laceration repair and incision & drainage (I&D).
- Develops individualized treatment plans for patients based on their medical conditions,
- Prescribes medications as needed and ensures compliance with prescribed treatments, including monitoring for side effects and potential drug interactions.
- Responds promptly to medical emergencies within the correctional facility and initiates appropriate lifesaving interventions until higher-level medical care is available.
- Oversees the management of chronic medical conditions among patients, to promote disease control and prevent complications.
- Collaborates with the mental health team of professionals to address the mental health needs of patients to ensure appropriate management of psychiatric conditions.
- Promotes health education and preventive care measures to improve overall patient health and reduce the risk of communicable diseases.
- Consults with other medical providers and recommends treatment protocols to align with FCH’s healthcare standards policies.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records, documents all patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with policies and legal requirements.
- Adheres to security protocols and guidelines within the correctional facility to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Maintains ethical standards and professionalism with patients, colleagues, and facility staff.
- Engages in continuous professional development to enhance medical knowledge and skills, and attend any necessary meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support FCH’s goals, objectives and values.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nursing (NPs) or an accredited education program for PAs
- At least one year of clinical experience as a certified and licensed APP
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Must have and maintain current Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) licensure within the State of Alabama
- Must have and maintain a current DEA registration
- Must have or attain a BLS Certification prior to the first day of employment
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of clinical experience, preferably in emergency medicine, urgent care, or correctional healthcare.
- Board Certification in a relevant specialty
Special Requirements: This position will be subject to a background check.
Physical Requirements: The position requires the ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds with prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting at a desk, viewing a computer and reading a variety of materials. Must be able to seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with your hands. Must be able to perform repetitive tasks, such as typing for extended periods of time.
