JOB SUMMARY
The HVAC Field Technician services, repairs and performs preventive maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air-conditions systems in residential and commercial buildings. This role applies knowledge of refrigeration theory, electrical systems, and structural layout to deliver reliable, high-quality comfort solutions for Stegall customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform installation, service and repair of residential and commercial HVAC equipment
- Diagnose system issues using gauges, meters and diagnostic tools; recommend appropriate repairs
- Mount compressor and condenser units, install evaporator units and connect ductwork following blueprints or manufacturer specifications
- Cut, bend and join tubing and piping as required for system installation and repair
- Install and calibrate thermostats, controls and electrical connections for HVAC equipment
- Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to ensure efficient system operation
- Test joints and connections for refrigerant or gas leaks and make necessary repairs
- Replace defective breakers, thermostats, switches, fuses and wiring as part of equipment repair
- Maintain accurate records of service calls, parts used and time on each job
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding diagnosis, recommendations and completed work
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment on every job
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 2 years of prior HVAC field experience preferred; technical school training may substitute for experience
- EPA Refrigerant Handling Certification required (or ability to obtain within required timeframe)
- Valid driver's license and good driving record required
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Field-based position requiring travel to residential & commercial job sites
- Must be able to stand, kneel, climb ladders and work in attics, crawl spaces and confined areas
- Frequent lifting of 25-50 lbs; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs
- Exposure to extreme heat or cold and outdoor working conditions
- Use of required Personal Protective Equipment on every job
