Optometric Technician

THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Optometric Technician to join our clinical team full-time. In this role you will perform comprehensive pretesting, scribe during exams, and assist the doctor chair-side — keeping our patient flow running smoothly while delivering a great experience at every visit.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Perform all pretesting: visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, confrontation fields, and more

• Operate diagnostic equipment including OCT, visual field analyzer, corneal topographer, lensometer, tonometer, retinal camera, and slit lamp

• Scribe exam findings into the EHR in real time, keeping the doctor focused on the patient

• Obtain and document chief complaint, ocular/medical history, and current medications

• Assist with contact lens training and patient education

• Support minor in-office procedures as directed by the optometrist

• Maintain clean, calibrated, exam-ready lanes at all times

• Help with frame adjustments, optical dispensing support, and supply monitoring as needed

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Minimum 1–2 years of experience as an optometric technician or ophthalmic assistant — required

• Hands-on proficiency with the diagnostic equipment listed above

• Experience with EHR documentation (familiarity with Crystal PM a plus)

• Professional, patient-friendly communication style

• Ability to stay organized and efficient in a fast-paced exam environment

• CPO or CPOT certification a plus — not required

• High school diploma or equivalent required
