Direct Support Professional (DSP)/ Caregiver
Job Description
Hours: Saturday (11:00AM - 7:00PM) and Sunday (9:00AM - 5:00PM)
Direct Support Professional/Caregiver must be able to:
- Accompany the participant/individual on regular community outings and activities (parks, recreation centers, restaurants, local events, shopping, etc.) to promote social engagement and community integration
- Actively encourage and facilitate the participant/individual's participation in group activities, social outings, and community programs aligned with their interests and person-centered plan (PCP)
- Build a warm, trusting rapport through consistent, friendly, upbeat interaction
- Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate recreational outings that give the participant/individual new experiences within the community
- Provide or coordinate transportation to and from community activities and appointments
- Support development of social skills, community navigation, and independence during outings
- Monitor safety and wellbeing throughout all activities, responding appropriately to any needs that arise
- Document services delivered — activities, engagement level, and progress toward goals — in compliance with agency and Maryland DDA documentation standards (including EVV)
- Communicate regularly with the care team, family, and support coordinator regarding participation, preferences, and any concerns
- Maintain compliance with agency policy, COMAR regulations, and DDA waiver requirements while delivering CDS services
Ideal Candidate Traits:
- Outgoing, sociable, and genuinely enjoys being out in the community
- Patient, flexible, and enthusiastic about recreational/outdoor activities
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Prior DSP/caregiving experience preferred
- Able to pass a background check and complete required DDA/agency training
