Capital Markets (Derivatives) Associate Attorney
Location: New York, New York

Direct Counsel is representing a leading Am Law firm seeking a Capital Markets Associate to join its highly regarded Derivatives team in New York. This is an excellent opportunity to work on sophisticated derivatives and capital markets transactions within a collaborative and fast-paced practice representing major financial institutions, issuers, and market participants.

The ideal candidate will have approximately 1–5 years of relevant transactional experience, including capital markets and derivatives matters. Candidates with exposure to equity derivatives are especially encouraged to apply, though the firm will also consider strong transactional associates with a demonstrated interest in derivatives work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on a broad range of derivatives and structured finance transactions
  • Assist with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating derivatives-related documentation
  • Support capital markets transactions involving equity derivatives and related products
  • Work closely with partners and senior attorneys on sophisticated domestic and cross-border matters
  • Collaborate across practice groups on complex transactional issues
  • Manage transaction components efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
  • 1–5 years of transactional experience at a major law firm
  • Experience in capital markets and/or derivatives transactions preferred
  • Equity derivatives experience is strongly preferred for more senior candidates
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Admission to the New York Bar or eligibility to waive in

Compensation
  • Expected salary range: $225,000 – $365,000
  • Eligibility for discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits package
