Global Finance Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking Junior to Mid-Level Global Finance Associates to join a prestigious, rapidly growing U.S. finance practice in New York. This role is ideal for associates with strong lending-side finance experience who want exposure to complex transactions and credit arrangements for leading financial institutions and corporate clients.

The Opportunity
Associates will work on sophisticated finance transactions representing a diverse client base, including major bank and non-bank lenders, private debt funds, mezzanine funds, BDCs, hedge funds, and corporate borrowers. The role provides direct client interaction, with opportunities for professional development and business development training. Candidates will gain experience drafting, negotiating, and executing credit and financing documents, while working closely with senior partners on high-profile matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute and support complex finance transactions and credit arrangements

• Draft, review, and negotiate loan and financing documents

• Coordinate transaction closings and manage deal timelines

• Provide strategic advice to lender- and borrower-side clients

• Collaborate with partners and cross-office teams on domestic and international transactions

• Participate in business development and client-facing initiatives

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school

• Admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing required

• 2–7 years of experience in lending-side finance transactions

• Strong academic credentials and prior law firm experience

• Experience with structured finance, credit facilities, and leveraged transactions preferred

• Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills

Compensation

• Salary range: $235,000 – $420,000, commensurate with experience and other relevant factors
