Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a Litigation Associate to join a growing commercial litigation practice in New York. This is an excellent opportunity for a high-performing attorney looking to handle sophisticated commercial disputes, take on meaningful responsibility, and work closely with experienced litigators in a collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of commercial litigation experience and a demonstrated track record of managing complex disputes in both federal and state courts, including experience before the Commercial Division of the New York Supreme Court.

• Handle all phases of complex commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution
• Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, memoranda, pleadings, and other litigation-related filings
• Manage discovery, depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation
• Develop litigation strategy and analyze complex legal and factual issues
• Work directly with clients on case management, risk assessment, and dispute resolution
• Independently manage litigation matters while collaborating effectively with attorneys and litigation teams
• Represent clients in state and federal court proceedings

• 3–5 years of commercial litigation experience
• Experience handling complex disputes in a law firm setting
• Demonstrated experience in federal and New York state courts, including the Commercial Division in New York County
• Proven ability to take ownership of and manage litigation matters independently and as part of a team
• Superior legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and client management abilities
• Strong academic credentials
• Judicial clerkship experience is a plus
• Active New York Bar admission required

• Base salary range: $205,000 – $225,000
• 4x4 Hybrid Model (in-office Wednesdays plus four additional in-office days per month)
