$225,000 – $360,000 annually
A leading global law firm is seeking a 1st–5th year Associate to join its Tax Practice in San Francisco. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated federal, state, and local tax controversy matters involving complex IRS disputes and litigation for a diverse client base.
Key Responsibilities- Handle tax controversy and litigation matters involving partnerships, corporations, estates, multinational entities, and high-net-worth individuals
- Advise clients through IRS examinations, appeals, investigations, and litigation proceedings
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, motions, and other advocacy materials
- Collaborate with attorneys across a nationally recognized tax practice on complex disputes and strategic tax matters
- 1–5 years of tax experience at a law firm or within the federal government
- Experience with complex IRS disputes and tax litigation preferred
- Strong knowledge of IRS practice and procedure; IRS Chief Counsel experience is a plus
- LL.M. in Taxation required
- Excellent academic credentials, research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage a demanding workload
- Active membership and good standing with the California Bar required
