Real Estate Construction Associate Attorney
Job Description
Direct Counsel is seeking a Real Estate Construction Associate Attorney to join a prestigious Am Law firm in Chicago, IL; New York, NY; or St. Louis, MO.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney with 3-5 years of real estate and/or construction law experience to join a growing Construction practice. The successful candidate will work on sophisticated real estate development and construction projects, advising clients on transactional matters, project development, risk management, and construction disputes.
ResponsibilitiesDraft, review, and negotiate construction and development agreements, including design-build agreements, EPC contracts, AIA contracts, and related project documentation.
Advise clients throughout all phases of construction projects, from project planning through completion and operation.
Support complex real estate development and construction transactions involving multiple stakeholders.
Conduct legal due diligence and research related to construction projects and risk management.
Assist in resolving construction disputes, including defect, delay, and other project-related claims through litigation or arbitration.
Collaborate with attorneys across real estate, finance, and construction practices on sophisticated matters.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships through practical, business-oriented legal advice.
J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
Active membership in the state bar where the candidate will practice.
3-5 years of sophisticated real estate and/or construction law experience.
Experience with construction transactions, construction contracts, or real estate development is strongly preferred.
Construction litigation experience is a plus.
Previous law firm experience is required.
Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple complex matters in a fast-paced environment.

Salary:
Chicago, IL; New York, NY: $260,000-$365,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
St. Louis, MO: Competitive, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
