Insurance Defense Firm with offices located throughout the State of Florida is currently seeking an insurance defense litigation associate for its Fort Lauderdale office. This AV Rated firm offers comprehensive insurance coverage and defense services, policy analysis and interpretation as well as defense against claim litigation. The firm provides an exceptional work environment.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Florida barred attorney, currently in good standing with 1-5 years’ experience in insurance defense litigation
  • First and/or third party property insurance defense a bonus
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Must have knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and be technologically confident
  • Knowledge of Time Matters, Jurs and Acuity is a plus
  • Should be a personable, self-starter who is detail and goal-oriented
  • Critical thinker with decisive judgment, motivate and assertive

About the Role:

  • Expertise in all phases of litigation from case evaluation to pleadings through trial with the ability to manage a high volume caseload and adhere to deadlines, ability to demonstrate a sense of urgency, delegate and prioritize as necessary
  • Knowledge and experience defending and taking depositions, preparing for and attending hearings, mediations and trials at various courthouses and other locations
  • Prepare pleadings, discovery/discovery responses, motions, and other litigation documents
  • Prepare timely reports to insurance carriers and clients regarding case status and ongoing activities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and be part of a team player
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving, strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong and persuasive oral advocacy, excellent research and writing skills
  • Must meet monthly billing requirements
  • Ability to interact with attorneys, paralegals, court personnel, opposing counsel, clients, and office staff in a professional and courteous manner
