Direct Counsel is seeking a Mid-Level Environmental Litigation Associate to join the Environmental & Mass Tort Litigation Practice of a leading Am Law firm in Century City Los Angeles. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 3–5 years of environmental litigation experience who is looking to work on sophisticated CERCLA matters and large-scale Superfund site litigation in federal courts across the country.
The ideal candidate has experience handling complex environmental disputes and is interested in representing clients in high-profile remediation, cost recovery, and environmental liability matters.
Responsibilities- Represent clients in complex environmental litigation involving CERCLA and Superfund sites.
- Handle all phases of environmental litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, trial preparation, and appeals.
- Develop litigation strategies involving environmental contamination, remediation, cost recovery, and allocation disputes.
- Draft briefs, motions, memoranda, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation filings.
- Conduct legal research and analyze complex environmental statutes, regulations, and case law.
- Collaborate with technical experts, environmental consultants, and multidisciplinary legal teams on sophisticated environmental matters.
- Represent clients in federal district courts across the United States.
- Provide strategic, business-focused legal counsel on environmental liability and risk management issues.
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
- 3–5 years of environmental litigation experience at a Top 100 law firm.
- Significant experience handling matters involving CERCLA and large Superfund sites.
- Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities with the capacity to work effectively with clients, experts, and litigation teams.
- Ability to manage multiple complex matters in a fast-paced environment.
- Active membership in the California Bar.
- Competitive base salary of $260,000–$355,000, depending on experience.
