Direct Counsel is seeking a Mid-Level Labor & Employment Associate to join the Labor & Employment Practice of a leading Am Law firm in Jacksonville. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 3–5 years of labor and employment litigation experience who is looking to represent employers in sophisticated workplace disputes, compliance matters, and traditional labor issues.
The ideal candidate has experience handling employment litigation from inception through resolution and is interested in working directly with clients on complex and high-stakes workplace matters across a broad range of industries.
Responsibilities- Represent employers in labor and employment litigation in state and federal courts, as well as arbitration proceedings.
- Defend clients in matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, restrictive covenant enforcement, ERISA claims, and other employment-related litigation.
- Advise employers on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation filings.
- Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial proceedings.
- Represent employers in matters involving traditional labor law and union-related disputes.
- Collaborate with clients on internal investigations, employment policies, and risk management strategies.
- Manage multiple litigation matters while delivering practical, business-focused legal advice.
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
- 3–5 years of labor and employment litigation experience at a law firm.
- Demonstrated experience with depositions, discovery, motion practice, and employment litigation strategy.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, ADEA, FLSA, ERISA, and related employment statutes.
- Trial experience is a plus.
- Judicial clerkship experience is strongly preferred.
- Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities with a client-focused approach.
- Active membership in the Florida Bar.
