Direct Counsel is seeking a Traditional Labor & Employment Associate Attorney to join a highly respected Am Law firm’s New York office.

Position Overview
A leading national firm is seeking a mid- to senior-level Associate Attorney with approximately 4–6 years of experienceto join its Labor & Employment group in New York. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney with traditional labor experience to play a key role in a growing practice handling sophisticated and impactful labor matters.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in collective bargaining, NLRB practice (including unfair labor practice and representation proceedings), and labor arbitration. This role offers meaningful responsibility and the opportunity to contribute to the continued expansion of a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent employers in traditional labor matters, including collective bargaining negotiations
  • Handle matters before the National Labor Relations Board, including unfair labor practice and representation cases
  • Advise clients on labor relations strategy and compliance issues
  • Represent clients in labor arbitration proceedings
  • Draft position statements, briefs, and related labor relations documents
  • Support clients on day-to-day labor relations and workforce issues

Qualifications

  • Approximately 4–6 years of experience in traditional labor law
  • Experience with collective bargaining, NLRB practice, and labor arbitration required
  • Prior law firm experience strongly preferred
  • Strong writing, advocacy, and client counseling skills
  • Excellent academic credentials and demonstrated professional achievement preferred
  • Ability to manage complex labor matters with significant responsibility

Compensation
The anticipated base salary for this New York-based Associate Attorney position is $310,000–$420,000 annually, depending on experience and other job-related factors consistent with applicable law. The role may also be eligible for a discretionary year-end bonus.
