General Operator – Blackening (Long Tanks): Rockford, Illinois
Our customer in Rockford, Illinois, is seeking motivated individuals to join their team. We’re recruiting General Operators – Blackening (Long Tanks) to work full-time on 1st shift. As a General Operator, you will be responsible for processing metal tools and parts through long blackening tanks while supporting heat treating, straightening, and saw operations in a production environment.
Responsibilities of the General Operator – Blackening (Long Tanks):
- Process metal tools and parts through multiple blackening tanks to achieve proper coloring and finish.
- Monitor parts as they move through various tanks for specific time intervals.
- Perform heat treating, straightening, blackening, and saw operations as assigned.
- Use overhead cranes regularly to move tools and materials safely. Bend, lift, and maneuver parts throughout the production process.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support production needs.
General Operator – Blackening (Long Tanks) Requirements and Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or GED required, or significant relevant work experience.
- 1–3 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to use measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Ability to use required hand tools including drills, screwdrivers, and impacts.
- Ability to read, write, perform basic arithmetic, and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to wear required PPE including steeltoed boots or shoes.
Pay for General Operator – Blackening (Long Tanks): $17/hour.
