Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney to join a prestigious Am Law firm in Houston, Texas.

This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney with 3-5 years of commercial litigation experience to join a highly regarded Complex Litigation and Financial Services practice. The team represents leading clients across the energy, financial services, technology, and private equity sectors in sophisticated, high-stakes litigation, regulatory matters, and business disputes.

Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in complex commercial litigation in both state and federal courts.

  • Handle matters involving financial services, intellectual property, regulatory investigations, enforcement actions, and mass tort litigation.

  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive court filings.

  • Manage all phases of discovery, including depositions, written discovery, and document review.

  • Assist with trial preparation, arbitrations, mediations, and settlement negotiations.

  • Develop litigation strategy in collaboration with partners and clients.

  • Work directly with sophisticated institutional clients to provide practical, business-oriented legal solutions.

  • Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas on complex and multidisciplinary matters.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Active membership in good standing with the Texas Bar.

  • 3-5 years of commercial litigation experience at a major law firm.

  • Strong academic credentials.

  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.

  • Experience managing complex litigation matters from inception through resolution.

  • Trial experience or a demonstrated interest in trial work is preferred.

  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong client service orientation with the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and sound professional judgment.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $235,000-$365,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
