Private Client Dispute Resolution Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a Private Client Dispute Resolution Associate Attorney to join a highly regarded Am Law 100 law firm in New York, NY. This is an exceptional opportunity for a mid-level attorney with trust and estate litigation experience to join a sophisticated private wealth practice handling complex fiduciary and estate disputes.

About the Role

The successful candidate will join a premier Private Client Dispute Resolution practice representing fiduciaries, beneficiaries, executors, trustees, and other interested parties in complex trust and estate litigation. The practice regularly handles contested proceedings in New York Surrogate's Court, including will contests, fiduciary disputes, accounting proceedings, and related litigation.

Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in trust and estate litigation matters before New York Surrogate's Court.

  • Handle will contests, accounting proceedings, fiduciary removal actions, discovery proceedings, and other contested estate matters.

  • Advise fiduciaries, beneficiaries, executors, trustees, and other interested parties on trust and estate disputes.

  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.

  • Manage matters from inception through resolution while collaborating with clients and legal teams.

  • Develop litigation strategies and provide practical, client-focused legal counsel.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Admission to the New York Bar or eligibility for admission.

  • 4–5 years of trust and estate litigation experience.

  • Strong knowledge of New York Surrogate's Court procedures and practice.

  • Experience representing fiduciaries, beneficiaries, executors, trustees, and other interested parties in contested trust and estate matters.

  • Experience with Connecticut trust and estate litigation and/or admission to the Connecticut Bar is preferred but not required.

  • Excellent written, oral, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.

Compensation

$310,000 – $365,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
