Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant plays a vital role within a small family medicine clinical team, supporting physicians and office management to ensure efficient patient care. This role encompasses a broad range of clinical and administrative duties including patient preparation, specimen collection, and managing patient communication, contributing to a streamlined workflow and enhanced patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
• Monitor and record vital signs accurately
• Collect specimens for lab analysis, including phlebotomy
• Maintain and update medical records and electronic health records (EHR)
• Schedule and manage patient appointments effectively
• Communicate with patients regarding care instructions and follow-ups
• Provide clinical support including EKGs, injections, and medication knowledge
• Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment
• Coordinate referrals and prior authorizations as required

Required Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Certification
• Phlebotomy skills
• Strong patient care focus
• Proficient in medical terminology
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
• Ability to monitor vital signs accurately
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Effective time management skills
• Knowledge of referral processes and prior authorizations
• Medication knowledge relevant to the clinical setting

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in medical assisting
• CPR Certification
