Help students with diverse learning needs reach their full potential by providing individualized instruction, behavioral support, and life skills education in a structured, relationship-focused classroom.

What You'll Do
  • Deliver individualized instruction aligned with Illinois Learning Standards.
  • Develop unit plans and daily lessons tailored to student needs.
  • Differentiate instruction using evidence-based teaching strategies.
  • Modify curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Implement positive behavior support strategies.
  • Create a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, psychologists, and other specialists.
  • Supervise classroom assistants.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and student records.
  • Communicate with parents and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support students with functional life skills throughout the school day.
  • Assist with feeding and diapering/personal care when required.
  • Support students with significant disabilities.
  • Participate in crisis intervention procedures and professional development.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement.
  • Experience teaching in a self-contained special education classroom.
  • Strong behavior management skills.
  • Experience supporting students with significant disabilities.
  • Knowledge of differentiated instruction and evidence-based teaching practices.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.
