Senior Accountant
Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to support the financial operations of a real estate firm and family office in Los Angeles, California. This permanent position works closely with the Senior Controller to oversee accounting across multiple entities and properties while ensuring reliable reporting and well-maintained records. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to manage confidential information in a hands-on, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
• Manage daily accounting activities for real estate assets, family office entities, and related operating or investment companies in Los Angeles, California.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to maintain accurate books and records.
• Drive month-end and year-end close activities by verifying completeness, resolving discrepancies, and delivering timely financial reporting.
• Maintain ledgers for multiple entities, including intercompany balances, allocations, and related transaction activity.
• Partner with the Senior Controller to refine accounting procedures, strengthen documentation, and keep standard operating processes current.
• Monitor budgets, cash flow, and financial variances, and provide management with clear reporting and analysis.
• Work with property managers, lenders, insurers, tax professionals, and other external partners to support ongoing accounting and reporting needs.
• Assist with property-related matters such as real estate transactions, tax documentation, insurance renewals, tenant reconciliations, and audit or tax workpapers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.• At least 5 years of accounting experience, ideally within real estate, property management, construction, investment entities, or a family office setting.
• Strong command of general ledger accounting, month-end close, accrual-based reporting, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Experience handling multiple legal entities and intercompany accounting activity.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting platforms such as Sage or Sage Intacct.
• Demonstrated ability to stay organized, manage competing deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach when working with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• High level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity when managing sensitive financial information.
