The Health Services Administrator (HSA) serves as the on-site healthcare leader, overseeing daily clinical operations, staff performance, regulatory compliance, and quality outcomes within a correctional healthcare environment. This role is ideal for a mission-driven healthcare professional who excels in operational leadership, team development, and delivering high-quality, cost-effective care.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for a 24/7 healthcare operation within a correctional facility, ensuring alignment with FCH standards and institutional policies.
- Establish and monitor quality metrics, driving continuous improvement across clinical and administrative functions.
- Analyze financial, utilization, and statistical data to identify trends and opportunities for operational efficiency.
- Oversee subcontracted services including pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, and specialty providers.
- Maintain strong communication and collaborative relationships with facility leadership, FCH staff, correctional personnel, contractors, and external agencies.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluations, and professional development for clinical and administrative staff.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to ensure consistent communication across all shifts.
- Ensure compliance with licensure requirements, contracted services, documentation standards, and reporting expectations.
- Monitor and optimize utilization management, including off-site care, hospitalizations, and specialty services.
- Promote quality improvement initiatives and adherence to managed care principles.
- Serve as a liaison with professional organizations and support accreditation efforts when applicable.
- Safeguard confidentiality and security of patient health records and sensitive information.
- Participate in on-call responsibilities, attend required trainings, and travel as needed.
- Review crisis intervention processes and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Communicate critical information to nursing staff, physicians, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support FCH’s mission, values, and operational goals.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of progressive management or leadership experience.
- Three (3) years of administrative and clinical experience in correctional healthcare, acute care, or a comparable setting; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as permitted by law.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current RN or NP licensure in the State of Georgia.
- BLS Certification (required by first day of employment).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP).
