Position summary
We have an immediate opening in our York facility for a Prototype Mechanical Engineering Technician for the planning, assembly, and troubleshooting of first-time builds and low-volume production orders. The Mechanical Engineering Technician collaborates with Engineering personnel to successfully build new products that satisfy customer requirements while determining the best assembly sequence to support future production.
ACT offers a 4-day work week, with the potential for overtime on Fridays; typical schedule is Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Fabrication and testing of prototype hardware/assemblies
- Supporting generation and development of work instructions/procedures
- Maintaining a Safety-First work environment
- Following common engineering planning & execution documentation (eg. Travelers, work instructions, procedures, ..)
- Maintaining documentation through manufacturing and flow to preserve product pedigree
- Working cohesively with a diverse group of engineers and technicians
- Maintaining high quality of work and product
- Must be a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15? (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) due to ITAR restrictions
- High school diploma or GED required
- Certificate from a technical school or a minimum of 3 years of related experience
- Adhere to safety standards and regulations to maintain a safe working environment
- Ability to read calipers / tape measure
- Ability to safely use mechanical tools including saws, drill press, air tools and power tools
- Ability to read and understand mechanical engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and other technical documentation
- Must be dedicated to performing quality work and strongly detail-oriented
- Ability to stay flexible and easily redirect efforts in a fast-paced environment
- Hands-on fabrication and troubleshooting of assembly processes and test stands
- Ability to contribute to problem-solving for product and prototype manufacturing
Highly Desirable
- Industrial HVAC equipment assembly, testing, and troubleshooting experience
- Mechanical Engineering Technology Degree (MET)
- EPA Section 608 Certificate (Level 1 & 2, minimum)
- Copper pipe fitting experience
- Brazing Certification in accordance with AWS C3.4 and AWS B2.2 or ASME Section IX is a plus
- Experience operating a forklift safely
- Welding experience
- CAD/ SolidWorks Experience
