Job Description

Are you ready to get on the water with Freedom Boat Club?

We are Washington State's largest members-only boat club, operating 10+ locations across the Puget Sound and Lake Washington. Our mission is simple: keep people on the water. Our fleet of ~200 boats stays in motion because of the skilled technicians who maintain, repair, and care for them year-round.

If you love working with your hands, take pride in quality work, and want a career that keeps you connected to the water — this is it.

Position Summary

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7AM – 3:30PM (varies a bit depending on the season), with some overtime as needed.

During the summer season, select technicians travel across our 10+ Seattle-area locations performing diagnostics, repair, maintenance, and upkeep — keeping our fleet at its best for members on the water. In the off-season, you'll work out of our Tacoma repair shop overhauling, refurbishing, and preparing boats for the next season.

What You'll Do
  • Perform diagnostics and repair on outboard engines and onboard systems across a diverse fleet
  • Complete basic through full service intervals — oil changes, impellers, anodes, and beyond
  • Perform gelcoat and fiberglass repairs
  • Conduct seasonal commissioning and winterization
  • Travel between our 10+ Puget Sound area locations during peak season
  • Work on refurbishment projects at our Tacoma shop in the off-season
  • Tow and launch boats on trailers as needed
  • Communicate clearly with the team using tools such as Slack

Requirements
  • Mercury or Yamaha certification is strongly preferred — a meaningful advantage in the selection process
  • Minimum one (1) year of marine or related mechanical experience preferred
  • Knowledgeable in outboard motors and basic boat systems
  • Valid driver's license with ability to learn towing and launching boats on trailers
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Physical ability to board and de-board boats safely
  • Physical ability to kneel and bend to access boat interiors and compartments
  • Self-directed and capable of working independently across multiple locations
  • Highly effective communication skills with a calm, professional presence during periods of high activity
  • Personal mobile device for team apps (Slack, ADP, etc.)
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Our Values

As a Freedom Boat Club employee, we'll rely on you to reflect our core values — these aren't words on a wall; they're how we show up for our members and each other every day.

  • Great Attitude
