Our Avon, CT law firm is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Legal Administrative Assistant to support our product liability subrogation practice.
Our firm represents insurance carriers in recovering payments arising from property damage caused by defective appliances and other products. The primary responsibility of this position will be reviewing claim files and gathering, organizing, and preparing the supporting documentation needed for settlement demand packages.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys organized, process-driven work and takes pride in making sure documents are complete, accurate, and easy to review.
Primary Responsibilities
- Review electronic insurance claim files to locate documents needed to support product liability subrogation demands.
- Gather and organize photographs, repair estimates, invoices, payment records, mitigation documents, expert reports, product information, and other claim materials.
- Identify missing or incomplete documentation and request additional materials from insurance representatives, insureds, experts, and other contacts.
- Follow up on outstanding document requests and maintain accurate records of each claim’s status.
- Rename, organize, and combine PDF documents for inclusion in demand packages.
- Enter and update claim information in the firm’s case-management system.
- Prepare routine correspondence and assist attorneys and staff with other administrative projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to review large amounts of documentation carefully and efficiently.
- Reliable follow-through, particularly when tracking and obtaining missing records.
- Clear and professional written and telephone communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PDF software.
- Comfort learning new software and working with electronic claim-management systems.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with attorneys and other staff.
- Professional judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Prior administrative, legal, insurance, or claims experience is helpful but not required. Training will be provided.
