Pay: $20–$23/hour (based on certification level & experience)
Schedule: Full-time or Part-time | Monday–Friday (daytime/business hours)

You can apply if you meet ONE of these:

Option 1: You currently hold NYCPS or NYCPS-P, OR
Option 2: You have lived experience and are willing to complete the APS (Academy of Peer Services) coursework to earn your NYCPS-P (Provisional)

Note: We are looking for people who are ready to start the APS process soon and stay engaged. We provide support the whole way.


What you’ll do in the role

  • Provide peer support and encouragement to individuals working on recovery goals

  • Share lived experience appropriately to inspire hope and motivation

  • Help people build coping skills and connect to resources

  • Collaborate with staff and contribute peer perspective

  • Complete basic documentation (training provided as needed)

  • Maintain strong boundaries, ethics, and confidentiality


Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Lived experience related to mental health recovery, substance use recovery, and/or supporting a loved one

  • Able to work in person at [FACILITY NAME] in [CITY, NY]

  • Basic computer/smartphone skills

  • Ability to complete onboarding requirements (background check, etc.)

We will guide you step-by-step through:

  1. Creating your APS account

  2. Completing APS Policies

  3. Enrolling in the 13 APS Core Courses

  4. Applying for your NYCPS-P (Provisional)

You’ll receive a step-by-step guide + troubleshooting support, and you can reach out to us anytime during the process.
