Position Overview (Medical Director)

Casper Mountain Rehabilitation & Care Center is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and collaborative Medical Director to provide physician leadership and clinical oversight for our skilled nursing and rehabilitation community. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the delivery of exceptional resident care while supporting regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The Medical Director partners closely with facility leadership, attending providers, nursing leadership, therapy, pharmacy, and other healthcare professionals to promote evidence-based practices, improve clinical outcomes, and maintain the highest standards of resident-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical leadership and clinical oversight for resident care throughout the facility

  • Collaborate with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, high-quality resident care

  • Promote evidence-based clinical practices that improve resident health outcomes and quality of life

  • Participate in the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of clinical policies, procedures, and medical protocols

  • Assist facility leadership in maintaining compliance with CMS regulations, Wyoming Department of Health requirements, and professional standards of practice

  • Support Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives through participation in quality meetings, data review, and performance improvement activities

  • Provide medical guidance during infection prevention initiatives, outbreak management, and emergency preparedness activities

  • Review clinical trends and assist with reducing avoidable hospitalizations, improving quality measures, and enhancing resident outcomes

  • Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences and provide consultation regarding complex clinical cases

  • Support survey readiness and assist during state and federal regulatory surveys as requested

  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing leadership, and facility staff

  • Foster collaborative relationships with residents, families, hospitals, specialists, and community healthcare partners

  • Promote ethical medical decision-making, resident rights, and person-centered care throughout the organization

Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school

  • Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Wyoming

  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, or another applicable specialty preferred

  • DEA registration and eligibility to prescribe medications in Wyoming

  • Previous experience serving as a Medical Director or physician leader in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, or post-acute care preferred

  • Thorough understanding of CMS regulations, long-term care clinical standards, and quality improvement principles

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to resident-centered care, clinical excellence, and regulatory compliance

  • Ability to effectively lead quality improvement initiatives and support organizational goals

Physical Requirements
