What You'll Do

The Peer Recovery Specialist with Youth provides peer recovery support services to clients experiencing substance use challenges while helping them work toward personal goals, stability, and positive life changes.

Your responsibilities may include:

Client Support & Recovery Services
  • Provide support and encouragement to clients.

  • Align services with individual treatment plans and case plans.

  • Teach, reinforce, and motivate clients toward positive behavioral change.

  • Assist clients in developing coping skills and recovery strategies.

  • Provide peer recovery support and connect clients with community resources.

Advocacy & Care Coordination
  • Serve as a liaison between clients, families, mental health professionals, and community providers.

  • Advocate for client needs, including:

    • Preparing for job interviews.

    • Completing social service applications.

    • Supporting access to basic needs.

    • Assisting with court-related preparation and documentation when needed.

  • Support the development of individual safety plans and case plans.

Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all client services and interactions.

  • Complete progress notes, termination reports, and updated service goals/plans.

  • Submit required documentation within established timelines.

  • Maintain confidentiality and follow all ethical and organizational standards.

Community Engagement
  • Participate in outreach activities and community events.

  • Build relationships with community partners and support networks.

  • Promote awareness of recovery resources and services.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to meet all pre-employment requirements, state regulations, and licensing requirements.

  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience working with at-risk populations.

Preferred

  • National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) certification.

  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Addiction Consultant (CADAC) certification.

  • Two or more years of experience working as a community support individual or in-home case management.

Physical Requirements

The position requires the ability to:

  • Bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.

  • Lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
