CMT Job Summary:
Work under the direction and supervision of RN/LPN staff while administering non-parenteral medications and providing resident care in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, local, and facility regulations and standards.

CMT Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Follow all facility and departmental policies, guidance, and directives while performing tasks and using equipment and supplies

  • Assure infection control practices are maintained during daily tasks

  • Prepare, administer, and chart medications (excluding parenteral) per facility guidelines

  • Observe and report any adverse reactions to medications to staff nurse

  • Maintain and control medication storage according to protocol

  • Report medication errors to supervisor immediately

  • Transport residents to dining areas and assist with feeding if needed

  • Note and report poor appetites, complaints, or requests

  • Assist with supplements and snacks

  • Take and report vital signs promptly; report abnormal findings immediately

  • Answer call lights within two minutes and provide necessary assistance

  • Make frequent rounds and supervise nurse aides, ensuring proper resident care

  • Assist CNAs with direct care and ensure follow-up on any issues found

  • Maintain safety and ensure proper use of safety devices

  • Use good body mechanics and gait belts during transfers

  • Immediately report resident incidents or accidents; do not move residents until a nurse assesses

  • Report personal injuries to the Director of Nursing or designee, regardless of severity

  • Immediately report any suspected resident abuse to the Administrator or designee. This includes:

    • Resident-to-resident

    • Staff-to-resident

    • Visitor-to-resident

  • Report abusive resident behavior toward staff or visitors to a nurse for follow-up

  • Attend all departmental meetings and in-services as required

  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisors
