AKC Healthcare Incorporated is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Mental Health Group Facilitator to join our behavioral health team. The ideal candidate will facilitate therapeutic group sessions, promote positive coping skills, encourage client engagement, and support individuals experiencing mental health and behavioral health challenges. This role requires excellent communication skills, professionalism, empathy, and the ability to create a safe and supportive environment for all participants.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic group sessions in accordance with individualized treatment plans.
- Encourage active participation while fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive group environment.
- Monitor client behavior and participation during group activities and report concerns to the clinical team.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of group attendance, progress notes, and incident reports.
- Collaborate with therapists, case managers, nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Assist clients in developing healthy coping strategies, communication skills, emotional regulation, and life skills.
- Support crisis intervention efforts by following established policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and all applicable federal and state regulations.
- Participate in staff meetings, supervision sessions, and required training programs.
- Ensure compliance with agency policies, accreditation standards, and ethical guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming therapeutic environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing mental health, behavioral health, or substance use disorders is preferred.
- Strong group facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish rapport with diverse populations.
- Excellent organizational, documentation, and time management skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire) is preferred.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles.
- Familiarity with crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Ability to motivate and engage clients in therapeutic activities.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to respond appropriately during emergency situations.
